I'm one of many "refugees" here from the closing of Omidyar.net. Ned.com is a little quieter, but no less passionate for doing good things in the world and all in all its a great place to be. A much nicer place too!

In the real world - which for me is the Ouse Valley in Cambridgeshire, on the edge of East Anglia in the UK. I'm an early-retired ex-Probation Officer who now spends my time as a volunteer and caring for my family, most of whom unfortunately live at a distance of two or three hours travel either south-east, the other side of London, or up North in Yorkshire. I like wildlife (especially birds), literature, serious film (as opposed to movies), classical, baroque and folk music, history, archaeology and most sport, especially the 1987 Cup Final and unabbreviated cricket.

My main online passion is the development of a Worldwide Connectory to link communities across the world in an exercise of mutual self-discovery and practical planning to help Make Poverty History from the bottom up. The aim is to give more than a billion people from economically developed countries a responsibility for the well-being of more than a billion people from the world's most impoverished communities. And the target is to start the allocation process by the end of this year so that the pairs of rich + poor communities can be announced in the first half of 2009.
