About

Officially (according to my LinkedIn profile)...

I'm a bilingual and bicultural international sales and marketing professional with proven results across cultures, time zones and geographic borders; a seasoned manager of multi-channel product distribution with emphasis on key account identification and management and international marketing strategy.

BUT... I'd much rather focus on living in alignment with my life's purpose, and what I know is that I want to live in a world that works for everyone.

After spending the last 20 years living and working throughout Latin America, I have seen first hand the results of empowering those in need to help themselves.  I am committed to raising awareness about projects around the world and solutions, including microfinance and education, that support social entrepreneurs and youth so that they may become powerful catalysts for change.

HUMANITY UNITES BRILLIANCE

HUB is an amazing new for-profit organization created to move people all over the world from survival to self-empowerment to sustained abundance. Our focus is on partnering with non-profit and for-profit organizations worldwide to provide assistance in the form of food, water, education and microcredit. We maintain an economic engine that not only generates consistent funding for important humanitarian works, but grows exponentially and creates financial abundance for those who help us generate the dollars - a new model for "sustainable global giving."

In addition to projects in the US, we are currently working with partners in Africa where the need is so great and they include Feed the Children, Youth in Action and Child of Destiny among others. The founders and visionaries behind HUB are truly remarkable and I invite you to see more information on my HUB website: http://delsol.hubhub.org.

HUB has just opened in Canada and is gearing up to open in the UK so if you live in one of those two places, you have an amazing opportunity to get in at the very beginning and help build the organization!

I am personally working to build a team of like-minded individuals who share my passion for making a difference. If this sounds like something that's of interest to you, please don't hesitate to contact me at hughy@hubhub.org.

YACHANA FOUNDATION

I currently serve as the US Director of Development for the Yachana Foundation. Since 1991, the Foundation and its projects have invested approximately 5.2 million dollars in the Ecuadorian Amazon. This investment of time and resources has underwritten many triumphs.

Over the last 17 years, some of the accomplishments include:

• Initiated the Yachana Technical High School in 2005, an innovation in high school education

• Established the Mondaña Medical Clinic in 1997, which offers the only full-time healthcare to 8,000 Quichua indigenous and mestizos living along the Upper Napo River

• Initiated an agricultural, technical assistance and commercialization program in cacao that helps over 2,500 subsistence farm families better manage their land, improve their agricultural production and raise their income

• Began Yachana Lodge, a world renowned geo-tourism destination that opened in 1995

• Created Yachana Gourmet, a socially conscious company that has established a stable market for organically grown cacao purchased from over 2,500 small-scale growers in the Amazon. The tons of cacao purchased annually are processed in our factory in Quito

• Constructed 21 schools in impoverished communities throughout the Ecuadorian Amazon

• Created 16 village banks managed largely by the women in communities

• Purchased and protected 4,300 (1,740 hectares) acres of primary and secondary rainforest
